Who is a Carer?
Do you look after a relative or friend who due to ill health, physical or mental illness, disability, frailty or addiction cannot manage without your support? Then you are a Carer and may want to talk to someone about your caring role and any support needs you may have.
Anyone can become a Carer. Carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be any age.
A young carer is someone aged under 18

Are you looking after or providing support for a relative friend or neighbour? Are you being helped or supported by a relative friend or neighbour?
Your GP needs to know so you can be offered the right information, support and access to services. GP surgeries have to compile information for the government about the numbers of carers attached to the surgery so your information will help them to do this.
